Four Benefits Of Grilling With Propane Over Charcoal

Summer is here, and it's time to pull out your grill. For some, that also means running to the store for charcoal, and for others, it means filling the propane tank or purchasing a new propane tank. Though charcoal grilling does create unique flavor, propane grilling is a better choice for many homeowners. Here are a few reasons why.

Your grill will heat up faster.

When you grill with charcoal, you have to light the coals and then wait at least 20 minutes, if not longer, for them to burn down enough for you to grill successfully. With propane, all you have to do is turn the grill on and wait a couple of minutes for it to heat up. There are no matches or lighter fluid to worry about.

The temperature stays constant and is easy to control.

It's hard to predict how charcoal will burn. The size of the brickets, their arrangement in the grill, and the direction of the wind can call cause the temperature to vary throughout your cooking time. The same burger may take 5 minutes to grill one day, and 10 minutes the next! Propane grills, however, maintain a constant temperature throughout the cooking session as long as you leave the dial in the same place. If you want to turn the heat up or down, you just have to turn the gas flow up or down!

You can turn the grill off immediately.

This is definitely an advantage if you have kids or pets around. Charcoal stays hot and dangerous for a long while after cooking. With a propane grill, however, the flames and heat source are gone as soon as you turn off the gas flow. While the grates will still be hot, they will cool off quickly since there's no more heat being applied to them.

You won't have such a mess.

Charcoal makes a mess. You need to dispose of the old ashes, and the smoke can leave stains and odors on other items in your yard. On the contrary, propane is a very clean-burning fuel. It won't leave a residue, and there's nothing to dispose of when you're done. You can keep having the same propane take filled again and again, too!

If you love charcoal grilling, you can always keep a charcoal grill on hand to use as needed, and turn to propane when you're in a hurry or don't want to deal with a mess. There's no need to pick a side -- you can be a gas and charcoal griller! For more information, contact a company like Northwest Propane LLC.
